The story of the Five Pound Bass Co

It all started with a washtub, a boat paddle, and some weed wacker string. Stumpy Joe created and played his original washtub bass in '06.  Some years later, guitar's mad scientist, Tim Wallis and Stumpy collaborated to design a one-string bass that first and foremost, sounded amazing, was compact, lightweight, easy & fun to play, and could be mass produced and marketed. The result was the Stumpy SJ-28, a bass guitar like no other. We debuted the Stumpy bass at Summer NAMM 2019 in Anaheim CA and the response was overwhelming. We immediately went into production in an abandoned gas station in Central Illinois and The Five Pound Bass Co. was born.
